Founded in 1989, the Center provides technical assistance
and project management services, health care research, strategic planning,
education and program development to help these organizations address the
new challenges presented by a
changing health care environment and skyrocketing costs.
The Center for Health Care Initiatives provides linkages
strong primary care and alternative health care models with the community. New relationships and coalitions are developed among benefit funds, labor/management committees, unions and providers to meet the specific needs of each group. This way, comprehensive, quality programs can be initiated which are affordable and accessible to workers and their families, but which are also cost-contained and cost-effective to keep the health plan viable and solvent.
